Hello, my fellow humans! Last week I told you all how my plan for my designs includes giving some of the profit to charity, so this week I thought I would go over some of the charities being considered!
First for my koala design!
Some of the charities I have in mind include:
- Defenders of Wildlife
This charity is located in Washington, DC. They have a rating of 86.97/100 on charitynavigator.org. According to charitynavigator.org their mission is: “Founded in 1947, Defenders of Wildlife is one of the country’s leaders in science-based, results-oriented wildlife conservation. We are committed to saving imperiled wildlife and championing the Endangered Species Act, the landmark law that protects them. Defenders of Wildlife is a national membership organization dedicated to the protection of all native animals and plants in their natural communities. We work to protect and restore America’s native wildlife, safeguard habitat, resolve conflicts, work across international borders and educate and mobilize the public.”
- Wildlife Conservation Society
This charity is located in Bronx, NY. They have a rating of 94.50/100 on charitynavigator.org, which is significantly better than Defenders of Wildlife. According to charitynavigator.org their mission is: “The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), founded in 1895 saves wildlife and wild places worldwide. We do so through science, global conservation, education and the management of the world’s largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together these activities change attitudes towards nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in harmony. We currently manage about 500 conservation projects in more than 60 countries; and educate millions of visitors at our five living institutions in New York City on important issues affecting our planet. Our parks include: the Bronx Zoo, New York Aquarium, Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo and Queens Zoo. The WCS parks in New York City welcome 4 million visitors each year, including helping the city to educate millions of schoolchildren in science and conservation issues.”
Now for my Puppy design!
Some of the charities I have in mind include:
- Metro East Humane Society
One of the benefits of going with this one is that it would be keeping it local, as they are located in Edwardsville, IL. They also have a score of 100/100 on charitynavigator.org! According to charitynavigator.org their mission is: “Improve animal welfare in the St. Louis Metro East by providing quality animal services including adoption of animals, advocacy and preventative initiatives.”
- The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
This charity is located in New York, NY. They have a rating of 83.36/100 on charitynavigator.org, so not quite as good, but still respectable. According to charitynavigator.org their mission is: “Founded in 1866, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was the first humane organization established in the Americas, and today has more than one million supporters throughout North America. The ASPCA’s mission is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States. The ASPCA provides local and national leadership in animal-assisted therapy, animal behavior, animal poison control, anti-cruelty, humane education, legislative services, and shelter outreach. The New York City headquarters houses a full-service, accredited animal hospital, adoption center, and mobile clinic outreach program. The Humane Law Enforcement department enforces New York’s animal cruelty laws.”
- American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation
This charity is located in Raleigh, NC. They have a rating of 98.23/100 on charitynavigator.org, again not as good as Metro East Humane Society, but respectable. According to charitynavigator.org, “The mission of the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation, Inc. is to advance the health of all dogs and their owners by funding sound scientific research and supporting the dissemination of health information to prevent, treat and cure canine disease.”
Overall I think they all have great goals on how to help; let me know what you think!
